Lately I’m soaking up every second with the kiddos because I am leaving for almost a week later this month and again in March. Even though the kids will be in amazing care I always struggle with being away. You’d think I’d jump into a heel-click and then shout, “freeeeeeeedom” as I enter the airport but I’m usually wiping or holding back tears. They have the time of their lives when I’m gone with lots of fun adventures and I return home refreshed and missing them so it’s happy in the end. Or at least that is what I am trying to convince myself…

Closer: Each year I feel like I grow a tiny bit closer to becoming the wife, momma, sister, friend that I want to be…
I made this layout challenging myself not to use the typical elements I gravitate towards: butterflies, circles, hearts. Instead I used: triangles, stars & zigzag stitching and stamps. I did sneak a couple circles in there. Speaking of sneaking I added something small from my new line! Can you guess what it is? I’ll show you sneaks and small reveal next Monday.
Last night I had this layout on my desk and Collin looked at it… “Honey, that’s sad. Why would you say that?”
I was so confused then I looked over and the “C” for the title detached leaving the new title LOSER. haha I was dying laughing.

The star background is the negative stars from the Studio Calico sticker sheet. The tiny stars are handcut and I added some pearls and rhinestones.
The zigzag stamp is from this set: Hello, There (peachy keen line) I love it. Stamped it on the envelopes for my Christmas cards too.
One of my favorite parts of this layout is the date stamp in the top right corner.

What a fun page! And I really appreciate you sharing the sentiment of it – I’ve been thinking a lot about how I can play an active role in my own evolution, so it’s encouraging to remember that every year (and every day) brings me one step nearer.
P.S. Don’t you hate it when the adhesive on a letter fails?? =)
Lee, haha… yes, I hate that.
and thanks… ! yep, I agree… some of my favorite pages when I look back through my albums are about that.
Beautiful page. And let me say, you inspire me as a mother and wife. Your creativity, beautiful heart and loving attitude towards the ordinary is incredibly inspiring.
Thanks for sharing. Oh and that was really funny about that darn c. Hate when adhesive fails

Tiffany, thank you so much! !! xo
I know nobody is perfect, but I can’t imagine that you don’t think you are a great wife, friend, mother, sister, daughter … you look pretty amazing to me!

beautiful scrap!
Oh Elizabeth, I’m so touched by the words about your kids <3
And I'm truly in love with the way you layed it down on your sweet papers!
Thanx for sharing that!
That’s funny that he thought it said, LOSER. You are anything but! That is a beautiful layout and I know you are a fantastic momma too. It must be so hard to leave your kids, but a week just flies by and you will be home with them before you know it.

I know just what you mean about leaving your kids. My daughter is 7 and 1/2 and I’ve never been away from her overnight. (My job doesn’t require travel and any date nights my husband and I have had haven’t been overnight ones.)
I just picked up a date stamp from Staples and used it to date a layout over the weekend. I love the simplicity and ease of it and I will probably use it constantly this year.

LOL! That is hysterical about the letter missing! I guess we as moms do feel like losers every now and then, but I never really thought about scrapbooking it! LOL!! I always have a hard time being away from my kids, too, but I’m sure a little absence will make their (and your) hearts grow fonder! Hugs from Copenhagen!
i found your blog! yay! love the red scarf by the way!(:
is the sneak the measuring tape at the bottom….i love it!
Great layout and great topic!
Is the sneak the measuring tape?!?!?! That one is new to me and if it is: I LOVE IT!!!! Please i wanna see more sneaks (no matter if it’s the measuring tape or not though!!!) Can’t wait for ur new line to arrive coz i loved everything u did so far
OMG you are just so talented! Every time I scrapbook I always think how can I make this look like Dear Lizzy’s layouts. Mine never turn out so lovely. They are either too put together or too messy, yours seem to have just the right amount of both. Thank you for sharing and I hope the more I scrapbook the better my layouts will become. Thanx for sharing the gorgeousness. Enjoy your trip!

Oh I love this….i am not a scrapper, but can say over the years with my husband, and 13 years as a mom, plenty of layouts could have the title of loser! It’s all part of that evolution of becoming that wife, mom, friend, you want to be….and YIPPEE that you don’t expect that is just ‘is’ that way. I still strugle with wondering why I didn’t have it all figured out…and still don’t. Why can’t you just ‘be’ that person that is just ‘so’ in your head!! I think usually that person in your head, is not really who you are, or are supposed to be. I tried too hard for too many years, when you become a wife and a mom it all can suck the ‘you’ right out ouf you! You do a grea job, and realizing that it is a journey, a process, work is so important. Just remember to be YOU! I love reading your blog, and being inspired from your creativity!
Oh SO so cute layout…Love to see all your layouts and fun stuff. Those little girls of yours are SOOOOOOOOOOO cute too:) Happy New Years!!! Ummm where ya going…something for scrapbooking. Pleaseeeeeeee come to Michigan sometime so I can meet you:)
That cracks me up! Glad the page isn’t actually about loserness:)
I’ve never commented, but I love looking at your blog. I have three young kids also, and you inspire my to still do the things I love along with being a mom. I love that you take the time for your passion! Have fun on your trip!
The “Loser” comment made me laugh out loud.
Love your LO! Collin is hilarious and…he SO loves you
!
Are those new thickers? I don’t recognize them. I think I recognize everything else on the page. Otherwise, I’ll guess the seven little triangle banner…are those cardstock colors representing your new line? If not…yeah, I’m out. hahaha
Nice to see you today. And this page is amazing. Almost time to share!!
Love your layout! Super cute as always. I so feel the same way when i have to leave my kids.
I love the word strips love, happiness, excited. Where did you get them? I can’t wait for you to reveal your line…i’m so excited
LOVE the way the sun catches your scarf just right. nice work pixel pop.
bahaha…I was wondering where the “loser” part was coming into the story! I had some epoxy stickers that did the same thing….ended up hot gluing them! enjoy spending time with those cute kiddos of yours….make sure to bring them back something special! ( I’m guessing the small bunting is in your new line
)

Elisabeth, are you coming to Paris in march to participate at Version Scrap? Last year I was in one of your workshops, it was an amazing time because i love your work and designs. I’m from Barcelona, and to go to Paris 4 days and visit Version Scrap was a lovely adventure…
Love this post and the feelings, it happens to me almost everyday as I leave home to go to work, but when I come back my kid always welcomes me with a big smile, and I’m grateful for that.
Simply put… YOU ROCK!
